Covid-19 struck at a moment when all our lives were already profoundly shaped by digital technology. Throughout the pandemic, its tools would prove indispensable to many artists – some professional, others not – who wanted to express and transform their emotional responses, and connect with others by sharing their creative work around the world.
The Covidoscope project came out of a desire to gather a selection of these popular creative works, forming a global diary of the pandemic. Works that have made an impact on new communication channels like social media are arranged by distinct emotions, imprints of an outpouring of feeling in this unprecedented, globally-experienced moment.
In this virtual museum, there is no hierarchy based on artistic medium, or the status of any individual artist. For Covidoscope sees its essential role as conveying individuals’ voices to the future, thus forming a permanent archive to help understand the creative and emotional dimensions of this extraordinary time.
You can use the Covidoscope in different ways, tracing a route across world maps, or through galleries organised by emotions and themes backed up with cultural backgrounds.

A lo largo de la historia moderna, cada vez que los desarrollos tecnológicos acumulados durante períodos prolongados avanzaban súbitamente a pasos agigantados, el hecho también se reflejaba en los métodos de expresión artística. La Covid-19 irrumpió en un momento en que nuestras vidas ya estaban profundamente forjadas por la tecnología digital. Durante la pandemia, las herramientas que proporciona esta tecnología se volvieron indispensables para muchos artistas -algunos profesionales, otros no- que deseaban expresar y transformar sus respuestas emocionales y conectarse con otras personas compartiendo su trabajo creativo en todo el mundo.
El proyecto Covidoscope surgió del deseo de reunir una selección de estos trabajos populares y creativos para elaborar un diario mundial de la pandemia. Las obras que tuvieron impacto en los nuevos canales de comunicación, como las redes sociales, están dispuestas según las distintas emociones, impronta de la explosión de sentimientos en este momento sin precedentes que se vive a nivel mundial.
En este museo virtual no se establecen jerarquías basadas en los materiales utilizados en la obra de arte ni en el nivel individual de los artistas. Covidoscope percibe como su función fundamental la de transmitir las voces de las personas hacia el futuro y, así, forma un archivo permanente que permita entender las dimensiones creativas y emocionales de este momento extraordinario.
